What is the Feldenkrais Method®

The Feldenkrais Method is based on science.  Moshe Feldenkrais, an engineer, physicist and judo instructor, developed the Feldenkrais Method to ease his own pain. It is a mind-body approach that re-educates your nervous system and structure to improve movement, ease or eliminate pain, and help your overall wellbeing.  As you learn better ways to achieve the activity at hand, you experience improvements in balance, flexibility, breathing, and coordination.  Those who have injuries or medical conditions also experience more comfort by learning to draw on different parts of their bodies for support and strength.  It is for people of any age – 0 to 99 years old.  Learn more HERE

Awareness Through Movement®

Awareness Through Movement® Lessons are done in a classroom setting.  The practitioner verbally guides the group of students through a precise, sequential set of movements.  Students usually lie on the floor; however, some lessons are in sitting or standing.  Since the instructions are given without visual demonstration, the student has the opportunity to interpret the instructions via sensing and moving, allowing their body to learn what it needs to learn at that moment.  Learn more HERE.

Classes are about 55 minutes at 2551 Central Ave.

Functional Integration®

Functional Integration® lessons are one-on-one private lessons that address the specific needs of the client.  Where the practitioner moves your bones in a slow, gentle, non-invasive way.  Together, we explore your habits, find your blind spots, and teach your nervous system how to move more efficiently.  Any age person can receive a FI lesson. Finding What Works Best for You

You can always do both Awareness Through Movement (ATM) and Functional Integration (FI) lessons.

Is cost a factor?  Awareness Through Movement lessons are $15.00 per lesson or $75.00 for a prepaid 6 classes punch card.  A Functional Integration lesson is $100.00 or $360.00 for a 4 lesson punch card.  Tax is included in these prices.

Your mobility?  For ATM lessons you need to be able to get yourself on and off the floor.  For FI lessons you need to be able to lie on a flat table.

Do you have a specific activity that you want to be able to do or be able to do better?  If yes, FI lesson would be better for you.

How much pain are you currently in?  If lots, FI lesson would be better for you.

Have you recently had a serious injury or illness?  If yes, FI lesson would be better for you.  For example:  a person who had a stroke needs precise movements that help reeducate their nervous system.

Do you want to just relax and let someone else move you?  If yes, FI lesson would be better for you.  The hardest part of an FI lesson is to ‘not help the practitioner’!

Are you under the age of six?  If yes, FI lesson would be better for you.

Is your goal to be more graceful, move more efficiently?   Either ATM or FI – your personal preference.

Do you want to learn to be more aware of your body and how it moves?  If yes, ATM lesson would be better for you.
